View Full Version : How do you buy a business?
I have OFB installed but my brain doesn't seem to be open for business. How do I get my sims to buy one?

You can use your phone or computer to select "real estate," which will pop up a list of properties for sale. Or you can open a home business, which I personally find to be a pain in the tuchus. You can also use the phone or computer to select "start home business."
Oh! I should pay more attention to all the options available on the telephone and computer!

The main problem with home businesses is restricting access to the rest of the house to customers. You want them buying stuff, not sitting on the sofa watching tv with the checkout guy!

If there's nothing built into the game to control this, I'd use the Ingelogical controllable doors to restrict access.

Oh, OFB makes the doors lockable... but if you set all doors to the residental part to "family only," when the store is closed and guests come over, you've either got to reset the doors or entertain them outdoors!

Inge's security doors in "timer" mode would probably be the answer to that.

Actually I've found several mods for businesses that make the OFB features better/actually work like you think they should. (No Lame Hires, Relevant Wages, Missing Manager Fix, etc... )
I hadn't heard of the "door timer" deal though! Sounds worth looking into!

Inge's stuff is at http://www.simlogical.com or at the Dinner Bell (link should be on the SimLogical site).
