Beaches without BV

I know I've actually extended the lots out into the ocean before (I have up to Seasons), but couldn't get it to work on the particular terrain I was experimenting with. I have a great terrain for a "sandbar" neighborhood tho, and will fiddle with that later.

Here's the pictures I did manage to get:

Lot Placement:

Lot View:

Hm, seems that the entire lot and its surroundings are now "at the beach." BTW, TS2 looks great on Phil's big monitor!

Yes, that's what I have seen, too. You can get within two or three squares of water but you can't get into the water.

I managed to get the corner of the lot to within pixels of the lake edge, but still not in the water.

I could swear this worked before!

It might have been with more expansion packs installed.

Miros1 09-10-2008 04:06 AM

No, I don't even own BV, FT or AL; this is the Seasons installation I've been running for months.

It might have been a hack that allowed lot locations on steeper slopes -- I bet it was! I took a bunch of stuff out to run some of the TSR Challenges.

That would explain it!

What I'd really like to have would be the ability to have a very gently sloping lot that runs into the water. And a higher water table; I've never been happy with having to dig so deep to build a stream.

Would it have been either of these?

1) Change Max Slope Value (From default 20 to 50 or 89, depending on the one you pick) Though it auto-levels the lot to be reletively flat after placement.

2) Lot Placement Hack (Leaves lot on whatever slope/angle it's on.)

Or lower -- remember Miner and Crystal's flooded basement?

I think Zirconia's suggestions might help you do this one way or another.

I think I had the first one, but couldn't remember where I got it from, will check out the second one!

Thanks for links!

Now I realize I should have dug Crystal's basement with the water tool. Then the water would have been higher.

Miros1 09-11-2008 02:23 AM

 I'm sure Miner and Crystal need a swimming pool in their basement...

Greg 09-11-2008 02:52 AM

I think Coco is campaigning for one in the back yard but Crystal seems to be more interested in planting trees.

Crystal 09-11-2008 11:44 PM

Yeah Coco thought it would be neat if we had a pool but Jeff said no way. Even if we could afford it he doesn't want to take care of it. Remember it gets real cold here not like you guys down there in the tropics with all the hurricanes so water freezes in swimming pools and you have to drain them.
