Delphy's Download Organizer & Duplicates

Does anyone know how I can find the other files that Delphy's awesome Organizer has flagged as being a duplicate?

To explain better:

After running the search for duplicates feature, DDO will flag some files it says are redundant/duplicates, but it only shows me one "set" of them. I would like to know how to find out where the other file (the not-flagged one) is located, as sometimes that's the one I would rather delete instead of the copy that DDO flags.

My current quandary involves 1 floor & 1 wall file that DDO has flagged as being redundant, but the ones that are "flagged" are the copies I want to keep (they are in with the other items of a collection they belong to) & I haven't been able to find a copy of either file in my Floors & Walls sub folder, which is the only other place I (knowingly) have non-collection Floors or Walls.

Possibly the "other" copies came in with a lot?

Anyhow... I think this will work...

Highlight one of the duplicates, then change to show all files. I think the highlight will stay. Then sort by hash code (the alpha-soup column). You should have your duplicate still highlighted and right next to the file it's a duplicate of.

Yes. Scroll to the right and click on column header that says "MD5". That's what DDO is checking for duplicates.

Clicking on the column header will sort on MD5 so that duplicates sort together.

Also note that you can squish the width of columns so that you can see which files go with which MD5.

And one more: Under "Filter Options:" at the bottom of the window you can select "Duplicates" as the Download Type.

Thanks! It worked!

Took a little bit of "scrolling time", but I found the "hidden" copies & sent them packing.

(Eghads! 11,024 files?!?!? That's it- I'm joining Downloads Anonymous...)

Miros1 11-27-2007 10:23 PM

Lol, that'll be the day! You know you love your Downloads!

Zirconia Wolf 11-28-2007 11:18 PM

Not true!

I can quit & delete them anytime!

I just don't want to

*Sigh*

Just added some more washer/dryer/laundry things today & discovered that one of them is overwriting the colonial end table!

Now I just have to figure out which one...

Oh, the things we addicts do for our addiction!

Miros1 11-29-2007 03:02 AM

EEK! Does the GUID visible in the DDO? Don't think the duplicate checker checks for that tho...

Zirconia Wolf 11-29-2007 11:25 AM

Didn't think to check that, actually.

After playing around with stuff I actually managed to get everything to work, after a fashion.

The dryer in question is still listed/described as being an end table (presumably the one it was cloned from) but at least the real end table is no longer MIA. For whatever reason re-downloading the file did the trick.

I may still resort to Paladin's (Sim Wardrobe) Sims 2 Categorizer though, so I can get all the washers/dryers to show up under Appliances > Misc (like all Kelly's do) rather than having some scattered about in the Surfaces & Dresser headings.

Of course, this raises the whole "Is It Right To Mess Around With Someone Else's Content" issue, but if it never leaves my hard drive I think I'm okay.

Miros1 11-29-2007 01:22 PM

Gah, I change other people's stuff all the time, just never redistribute it, recolor it, or clone it (or clone something else and move the mesh to it) without permission.

Not to mention, Angelita and Lucia had to have clothes to fit their Bodyshape bodies!

Greg 11-30-2007 12:16 PM

I agree. As long as you don't redistribute modified stuff, I don't think anyone is harmed by modifying stuff that other folks made.

I do that all the time, too, especially with downloaded clothing. I like to fiddle.

Zirconia Wolf 12-01-2007 12:27 AM

Well at least I'm in good company! :)

Figured I would be okay- so long as I don't redistribute stuff I've "played" around with or anything like that.

Speaking of "playing"... is there a tutorial or something that will show me how to make something placeable on different surfaces (counters/end table/dinning tables) & what not? I've got a couple very cool downloads that I want to be able to place on more surfaces that I can right now...

(What happens on the Hard Drive stays on the Hard Drive!)

Miros1 12-01-2007 02:33 AM

I'll check for a tutorial for you... ask again if I take too long!

You could use the "One More Slot" gizmo from MTS2 to place things.

Well...yes, I suppose I could....

(I hate brain hiccups...:blush2: )

Well fiddle sticks!

It seems the one more slot dohickies only work if the item you are trying to place is coded to go on that kind of surface already.

This is a bummer as several of the items I am annoyed with can only go on one or two surfaces, none of which are very practical in most situations.

(I have got to learn how to code stuff...)

Oh- on the personal front, I just created my first object recolor & it actually didn't look completely horrible in the game!!!!!!

Well, I was excited about it!

Greg 12-04-2007 12:05 PM

Hmm... I don't think I've ever failed to get something to on top of the one more slot gimzo; even sims. That's using 'move_objects on', of course. Often I add the Magisplay Tray to the mix, though; and then put the tray on top of the One More Slot thingie.

Still, it can't hurt to learn what bits you need to flip to just fix the objects that you want to fix.

Warning: Never save a lot if you have a sim on a Magisplay Tray. If you do, you will not be able to reload the lot.

Miros1 12-04-2007 04:44 PM

Numenor has a nice hack that lets most stuff go on a Magisplay tray. Other people are being lazy and telling people to use Numenor's hack instead of "fixing" and rereleasing their stuff.

Zirconia Wolf 12-04-2007 05:16 PM

The moveobjects on thing didn't help at all: the item in question is hard-coded to only go on a desk or dinning table (no coffe/end tables or counters, etc) & even with the cheat it would only go on a desk or dinning table OMS thingy.

I don't belive I have the Magisplay tray. (Have a bunch of shelves that match the hight of the different dressers & such though: they really come in handy!)

Might give that a go next...

Miros1 12-04-2007 05:21 PM

Magisplay is part of OFB, intended for merchandising. There's an invisible recolor of it on MTS2.

I have the Windkeeper shelves too.
