InSim Vesion 2[1].7 Is Now Available...

...for all you InSim fans who have Bon Voyage already!

Just thought y'all might like to know...

(I already snagged a copy for the "Bon Voyage Okay" folder I've started. )

Greg 09-18-2007 02:11 AM

Omigoodness! That was fast!

Did Eric make any changes other than making it compatible with Bon Voyage?

Zirconia Wolf 09-18-2007 03:28 AM

Well- obviously- BV spesific stuff was most of it, although he did ad a new sectional called The Property Adjuster which can turn the power & water off/on in a lot amoung other things.

Greg 09-18-2007 04:41 PM

I'm not sure why I would want to turn off power and water a lot but I installed the new version anyway!

I also discovered that I am using the SIM edition, which appears to wholly include the DEST edition as well as adding some things to the sim's personal menu.

Zirconia Wolf 09-18-2007 05:17 PM

Yeah, the SIM version is the "Uber Deluxe" version.

It's the one I use to use when I first found InSim, but am currently using the "basic" OBJ one to avoid any possiblity of menu conflicts, since some of my other favorite mods add stuff to a Sim's menu themselves.

(Gotta admitt, I miss the SIM version for time to time... )

I'm not sure about the whole water/power thing ethier! I do know that houses can loose power during a thunder storm (in Seasons) but didn't know about the water.

Maybe it's a BV thing?

Miros1 09-18-2007 06:18 PM

Well, it makes it easier to play Amish Sims if you can turn off the power...

homerette 09-18-2007 08:10 PM

I had no idea Sims could lose power in a thunder storm. New one on me! That could have something to do with the fact that I rarely put lights in my houses. :P

Maybe the water thing has to do with the digging for treasure interaction from Boy Voyage. You can dig anywhere and it's made it easier if a stray pet starts a hole in your yard, if you have Pets of course. You have a "small" chance of hitting a water main, and the geyser won't stop until you fill the hole in. The usual drops in environment score ensue, but I don't know about the house.

Greg 09-18-2007 10:09 PM

Digging for buried treasure is silly but hitting a water main while digging was rather clever! What's next? Frozen pipes?

Miros1 09-18-2007 11:37 PM

Shush. Otherwise, I'll email you multiple snowballs and Anja will throw them through the monitor at you.

Greg 09-19-2007 02:28 PM

Snowballs! I remember snowballs!

Miros1 09-20-2007 12:39 AM

Yep. I heard some evil woman nailed you in the back with one....

(Not me, for those joining the conversation late.)

Okay, emailed snowballs no less.:p Can you do that with rain?
We desperately need it.

Sims talk.
It's now time for a complete backup.
Go get InSim 2.1.7.
I have BV sitting at my left elbow now, just itching to install it.
Still no news on any patches needed? Just to be safe.
I do prefer to install and patch at the same time.

Zirconia Wolf 09-20-2007 01:42 PM

No news yet about any Offical Patches, but you will want to get the updated antiredundancey fix from the-site-who-shall-remain-nameless.

It fixes a serious bug with BV creating a new Tour Guide NPC every time you have a Sim vistit any Vacation Lot. (Has the potenial to cause BFBVFS down the road.) Like the earlier versions of the fix, you will still get the inital 2-3 NPC's, but no more unless one of the originals is no longer available. (I think there is also somekinda sand castle patch there too. )

Other than that- aside form the usual complaints about funky Maxis coding & incompatability with some older mods- I haven't seen anything about BV being a computer eater or anything. In fact it sounds like it is seriously in the running for The Second Best TS2 EP Ever Made. (I will never let it achieve the coveted #1 spot for me becuse of it's lack of Flicka/Woofum support. Grrrr. )

I can't wait to install it myself!

**ADDED**

Oops! I just read your post in the Living In Bon Voyage Limbo thread & see that you know all about the re-spawning thing. I'm too lazy to delete my post though cause I'm lazy! (Plus it never hurts to post about potential BFBVFS! )

Miros1 09-20-2007 01:57 PM

I think the sandcastle fix is from the InTeen board.

InSim 2.1.7 is hereby pronounced Officially Cool. I haven't updated it since 2.1.4 but I'm finding some really nifty goodies in here!

Among my favorites are the ability to add want slots to any sim (even teens, haven't tried kids yet) and also to add want locks. Now a sim doesn't have to forget that he wanted hamburgers for dinner just because he told a joke to his little sister!

Zirconia Wolf 09-21-2007 03:50 AM

Yeah, the want slot/locks thing is very handy. Sims don't seem to have long-term attention spans!

I like the User Controll Sectional (OBJ version) which lets me custom add various menus to Active and/or Target Sims. My favorites are Wardrobe, Pregnancy, Motive & the Selector options.

I haven't got to play much with this newest version yet (just finishing up my re-install) but from what I read in the InSim thread it sounds like this version is alot of fun!

Greg 09-21-2007 03:48 PM

Oh! I'll have to look for that User Control Sectional thing. Since I'm running the SIM version, I might already have those menu items. There are so many options that it's easy to get stuck in my ways and overlook things.

Zirconia Wolf 09-24-2007 04:16 AM

Just a post to say that there is now an InSim 2.7b available.

(Apparently there was a jumpbug with one of the menu options...)

Greg 09-24-2007 11:44 AM

Thanks! Got it! :D
