Mythbusters

Greg did you watch Mythbusters tonight? :D

I have a bet with Coco that you are watching Mythbusters instead of being on line tonight but she says your probably working late again.

Well, Coco is right that I had to work late tonight, but you won the bet! Yup! I made sure that I got home in time to watch Mythbusters tonight!

They were taking on the silly myth about how NASA faked the moon landing; and of course they squashed that sucker flat. It's incredible that 20% of the people in America would believe something like that. No one ever went broke from over-estimating people's gullibility!

Weird...I was just having a discussion about that the other day. We were talking about how a shadow should fall on an illustration I was working on and got into a discussion about the supposed "fake" moon landing pictures. Basically the thing about how shadows fall is really interesting. A person extects a shadow to fall at a 30 degree angle to the right when a direct lightsource coming from behind, top over and to the left (lefts suppose) and the claim that the pictures are fake because the the shadows are "wrong". I remembered an article about a guy who went to the desert with some type of powerful moveable lights and proved that the light source in a terrain can actually make a difference in how shadows fall and the result was similar to the landing pictures. I don't know if I explained that right, but it was a cool discussion.

They did that on the Mythbusters, too, with a movie light and a model terrain. By grooming the slope of the terrain, they could make the shadow go anywhere they wanted to.
