Oh sweetheart. Not Vista!

Not a problem. Click this pretty blue link.

http://www.mozilla.org

Download the latest version of Firefox and Thunderbird. Install them, and let them take over as your "default" web browser and email program.
You still need to use IE for MS system updates, but that is all.

Or you could download and use Sea Monkey, that does the lot in one program, and they are all totally free programs. Free as in air, beer, love etc.
The companies that create "free" software usually make their money by selling the top shelf product to the corporate sector, and give the standard version away to us for free. Isn't that nice?
This is not the "politically correct" meaning of the "Free Software Foundation", but it is the end result for you and me.

Another very good program I use to replace MS Office is Open Office.

And for all graphics, photo's, drawing, I use a program called Gimp.

Did you like the movie Shrek? The people who made that movie used Gimp to draw and animate it. Pretty damned good for a freebie eh?
