Not a ghost, but just really strange:

Ghosts are usually less colorful than that... so how did you get a translucent Sim?

I don't think I've seen that before, unless you could the Hula Zombies fading away.

It's happened to me too. I've alspo gotten sims that won't ever move, they stay there even after the higiene bar goes to 0

Did you try using "move_objects on" and put them somewhere else? That might unstick them.

TomP, I noticed it too but only on a university lot with the dormies, not the playable sims. From the pic, it looks like that's the case here too - I see a Myne door in the background. Did you happen to go in a dormie's room and right back out again before they faded all the way in? I think that's how it happened in my game. It took exiting the lot and coming back to get rid of it for me.

This is beginning to summon up (or perhaps create) vague memories of having seen that same phenomenon in dorms. It's been a long time since I have played in a dorm, though.

yup, I think it's dorms. Just happened to one of my student Townies, who I then moved in and made playable - and since the strange Out Of Body Experience, as he calls it, he is perfectly normal for a Sim but determined to have a psychic career

Sita just sparked a question mentioning the Psychic career. Has anyone ever had a sim that had a lifetime aspiration want (the one where you go platinum) for any of the careers that came in Uni? I have never seen that - just for the careers in the base game and now for the ones that came with seasons?

I don't recall seeing a lifetime want other than the base game, and since I don't have Seasons installed, that would support your thesis.

There's a hack that makes you want "top of X" career. It's from the bad place.

Yes I have that hack
I think after Bon Voyage? you can (though rarely) then have aspirations for the new careers (Uni and BV) - but the hack is great and fixed it for me also gets rid of _some_ of the stupid wants. And yeah, I don't post or read their forums much even, but one or two of the hacks are good. Last edited by Sita : 02-26-2008 at 12:55 PM. |

I'm running BV and still get all the career aspirations to come up frequently except the Uni ones. It's one of those little things that you notice and then start watching to see it or what happens. I was just curious if it was just my game (because of the hacks and mods) or basically another oversight in the game design like the popup window never coming up for things like the cow plant having lunch on some sim I wasn't watching.

I think I would need to have a list of careers listed by expansion pack to notice whether or not I see lifetime wants for them. I don't remember what came with which.

I seem to remember Dog Walker as a job. Maybe on the Slacker track?
The nice thing is that Maxis didn't hard code the number of employment tracks (for humanoids) this time, so modders can add more. Bet the tracks available to the pets themselves is hard coded to 3 tho, since they're always available via the newspaper or computer. Hm, maybe I should start a brainstorming thread... |
