Invisible Chefs???
Alrighty, I give up.
I've been so busy getting my game up to snuff that I just now realized that I have NO restaurant cooks in ANY of my hoods except Sample City, which has the Default Downtown sub-hood! This has been confirmed with a quick SimPE check, but just to give you all the info I have here's what happened... Jules O'Mackey was going on a date with David Ottomas to a restaurant in Crystalsprings City, which is Riverblossom Hills custom "Night Life" sub-hood. (It was created long after I "scorched" the D001 files.) Things looked okay until I realized that there was not a cook to be found. (The waitresses were taking orders & just standing in the cookless kitchen.) I managed to exit the lot without saving (thank you, Anitidisata Remote!) & tried deleting/re-purchasing the commercial stove (I forget the name) & tried again. This time the food was "cooking" (steam animation) but still no cook! (The food seemed to just "materialize" in front of the customers after a while.) So...any suggestions???? (I sooooooo don't want to re install everything again!) Also I tried taking out the Antiredundancy mod to see if I could trigger a cook, but no dice.

I can't get a cook to show up unless I use the two tile stove. Does that make a difference for you?

Yeah- I'm using the 2-tile "commercial" stove.
The strange thing is that- when I was dinking around with the Community lots a while ago- I would actually see a frozen image of a chef standing in front of the stove on 90% of the lots. (Most had very distinctive custom hair- so I new they were being pulled from my uber-cool Download folder.) I'll have to do some more digging... *** UPDATE : 4:50 AM *** Oh carpel tunnel! After doing some more testing, I'm afraid I've figured it out: It appears to be solely an issue with Riverblossom Hills, & I have a horrible feeling I know (sort of) why: During my last re-install, when it came time for me to boot up my newly-reinstalled Seasons/Celebrations game I (stupidly, it seems) replaced the existing Riverblossom Hills with a copy I had made before. I was hoping to save myself some "prep time" as that save already contained the University Upgrades & such, but it seems that I've created more problems for myself! In hindsight, I should have seen this coming, as my saved RH copy did away with the original Neighborhood Story pictures/captions that are supposed to be there for RH. (Best guess is some kind of problem with the Neighborhood Controller...) On the (possible) plus side, I'm hopefull that just rolling back to Pets, then reinstalling Seasons/Celebrations (without substituting a saved RH copy) may fix everything. *Sigh* (Of course now I'm faced with the whole "If-I-Roll-Back-Before-Pets-Maybe-I-Could-Try-Weeding-Out-Some-P001-Files" debate....

Well, things may not have been as dire as I thought they where.
Decided to try rolling back to Pets, then adding Seasons/Celebrations (+Patch & Downloads) & just letting RH boot up on it's own. (I plan to use my last saves for my other hoods.) Lo & behold, it (so far) actually seems to have worked! Cyd R. visited Bernard's Botanical Dinning (a problem for RH before) & there was a happy Chef slaving away in the kitchen! Now if there was just a way to get this Chef into my last RH save (which was a good one, darn it!), things would be perfect... Of course things are never perfect (especially with TS2) so I'll just have to make due.

Opps- I forgot you're playing it smar...er...safe & aren't always up on the new EP additions!
Yes, RH is just shorthand for Riverblossom Hills, which is the new inhabited hood (G001, so it shows up before Pleasantview) that comes with Seasons. I really liked the way my other RH save was going (locked in some great wants that I had never seen before for certain Sims) but the whole "Missing Chef" thing kinda put a kibosh on that! So, it's back to the drawing board...again!
