Default Installing Office 2007

My grand adventure for today was installing Office 2007 on this machine. After many error messages and lots of cryptic messages regarding an incompatible OLMAPI32.dll, it all comes down to this bit of advice:
Before installing Office 2007, completely uninstall Office 2003 and reboot your machine. Then, after installing Office 2007, download and install SP1 for Office 2007 before you start up Outlook
When I did that, it came right up. No worries about Outlook--all my accounts, messages, folders, and calendar items were right there.

I'm spreading the addiction by corrupting all my friends (and attempting to make in-game money when they try the game).

Aha! It dawns on me why Microsoft would invest so much effort in Office 2007 with all its new features and conveniences and efficiencies and ergowhatsits--competition!

Yep. MikeD's oldest daughter can do all her Office tricks with Open Office... and Open Office is very competitively priced!

I suspect that untless it's free, it's not more competitive than the $20 I had to pay on the employee home use program.

"Open Office" is Open Source. Yes, it's free!
