Welcome to the Disinformation Age!
This morning’s amusement: Microsoft’s spelling checker wants to change “galvanically” to “galvanic ally.”

So that would be some kinda strange reworking of the Gasoline Alley comic strip, right?
(Just think: what if EA/Maxis teamed up with Microsoft for Sims 4...)

Whatever you do, don't add a misspelled word to the dictionary. It is impossible to get it out.
I had a professional resume service print out a sample resume with "acquire" spelled "aquire"! Fortunately, I caught it before they printed out the final copies on the good paper. |

What? There's no option for Strine in the Microsoft lexicon?

Nope.
That's why I use Open Office. They (Sun) know there is a whole other world of different countries outside of Redmond. |

Open Office likes to crash on me. Then I reopen it, it "repairs" the file and runs fine... weird but true!

I believe it.
I've just spent 2 days in utter frustration, trying to unlock a race simulator I have just purchased a legit liscence for. And do you think I can get the damned thing to connect with its master server to unlock over the net? I must be holding my mouth all wrong or some thing. |

Well, my fix for OpenOffice is much simpler. Start it from the spreadsheet icon, then open the database file from the "Recent Files" list. Opens like a charm, no crash, no restart, no repair.

I don't think mine has ever crashed Rose, and I use it all the time for work.
Which is a lot more than I can say for any of Mr G's products. |

Ah, the good old days. when the computer had to be rebooted every hour on the hour. Good old Win 3.1, W95\98\ME. Give it a solid days work. And. It couldn't shutdown, because it had fragmented it's FAT16 file system so much, it couldn't find the shutdown command. Me? I ran Win3.11 and NT. I only had to reboot at lunchtime. |
