Default Ancient Coinage

Would anyone here happen to know what currency they used in the Balkans about 120 years ago?

From what I can tell from poking around in Wikipedia, it looks like the borders were pretty fluid then, with a lot of influency by the Russians and Turks. If there was a common currency, it was probably one of those. Beyond that, you'd have to pick a country: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histori...lkan_Peninsula

Yeah, ain't the Wikipedia fun?

I'm beginning to understand how people were able to make huge fortunes just by trading currencies that were out of balance. I suspect that such opportunities are rare in the days of computers, though. It would be too easy to write a computer program that constantly monitors exchange rates, looks for imbalances, and automatically does trades.

You mean an electronic version of the Midas Formula?

Very, very, bad Karma in that one.
