Default MikeD's 8x2 Bedroom Multiplex

Installed expansions Uni, NL, OFB, Holiday Pack and FFS. Patched with the June 16th 2006 patch.
The garage door, driveway, driveway extension, exterior walls and interior wooden floors all require Nightlife. You must have TS2, Uni, NL, OFB, Holiday Pack and FFS installed to use the main download. I also recommend the June 16th 2006 patches.

Zip-File size: 1,657,564 bytes
Sims2Pack size: 3,966,998 bytes
Price: $202,673
Lot size: 6 x 5
No custom content.
No hacks.

There is now a TS2 and NL version of this lot. This version was made in a game with only TS2 and NL installed. There are some fairly minor differences, the main one being that the driveway on the extreme right had to be replaced with a driveway extension. It's a little cheaper, but not enough to avoid money cheats. Zipfile size: 1316071 bytes.

This building was originally inspired by the plans at http://www.coolhouseplans.com/details.html?pid=16048

I've tried to capture the character as best I could while modifying it from a 4 x 3 bed to and 8 x 2 bed Multi-Plex.

If you want to use the lot as 8 apartments you could get away with MyneDoors and the Antipedestrian Garage Door from dolphin26 at http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=117170

If you want to be able to put more than one sim in any one unit, then I recommend Inge Jones Security System (formerly Apartments) these days available from http://www.nectere.net/smf/. Scroll down the page and click on "Simlogical Stuff" then "Sims 2" then "The Simlogical Security and Dresscode system". I can't deep link as they use session IDs. The site was quite slow when I last checked it, so be patient.

Update: security system now available from Simlogical again!

The lot is unfurnished and only contains cheapo plumbing, lights and kitchen cabinets. Yes, I removed almost everything you see in the pictures, even the exterior lights and that silly little restaurant in the basement (do with that as you will).

Even so, it comes in at an hefty $202,673 so it may be only for more established sims, you know, the ones that have been motherloded or alternatively you could use
familyFunds [familyName] [value] to set the amount of funds, or Use
familyFunds [familyName] [+/-][value] to add/subtract from current funds.

Recently this stuff has moved back to it's original home at http://www.simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pa...Apartments.htm

Sita, just two days ago when I was building a six-story hotel that pretty much fills a 5x6 lot, I was thinking of your problem with large lots!

I'll download my Duplex online later. It has:

4 bedrooms: 3 upstairs, 1 downstairs
2 studies: 1 for each flo
1 kitchen: On the bottom
2 lofts: 1 on each flo
2.5 baths

Great for a 2 member family (hubby & wife) and a best friend (downstairs.) If the plans include a baby for the H&W, then that's what the extra bedroomm can be for down there!

Another new location, but this time a far more subtle change, it's now at http://www.simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pa...Apartments.htm

I should make a version of this for AL....

I'm already working on a version for AL, only problem is it's a version for absolutely everything as I can't get AL to load on my laptop.

I've spent the evening changing the floorplan to allow for elevators and spiral stairs. The garages will now only be accessible through a common area in the basement (a fitness center and rec room?). I have steps leading to the back yard from the basement to provide access to whatever ameneties I put outside.

I need to install my camera hack so I can do screenies, and also so I can get a better overall view. The default cameras aren't much good on my new monitor, can't see much more than half a floor at a time.

Ok, here it is, the new version, but be warned you will probably need all EPs and SPs as my current installation includes TS2 with EPs Uni, NL, OFB, Pets, Seasons, BV, FT and AL along with SPs FFS, GLS, CS, H&M, TS, K&B, IKEA and M&G. I also have Christmas Party Pack (Happy Holiday Stuff?) installed.

I have no custom content or hacks in my game at present, so there shouldn't be any problem loading this lot.

The thumbnails below are all clickable.

You might want to use a no pedestrians hack to keep people from walking through the garage doors. There's one at http://www.modthesims2.com/download.php?t=324925

I discovered that my sims couldn't place a car in any of the 8 garages, the game said "Location out of bounds", so I tried placing cars in the garages before renting out any of the apartments. That worked.

Originally you got 8 apartments renting for $2699 - $3048. Now with 8 driveable (I've tested it) cars in the garages, the rent is still only $2699 - $3052, the $4 increase being caused by the addition of 2 lights in 2 of the apartments. Effectively free cars (Just as well considering the rent)

It seems there's a problem with moving people in and keeping the furniture, there's a workaround explained at http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?t...ting_Furnished but perhaps one of you knows of a better way and will tell us all.
